Aethermancer popped up as a recommended game for me during the current Steam Next Fest, and while I normally don't play a ton of demos this one grabbed my attention with it's roguelike Pokemon style battling.
I completed the demo in about an hour and a half and really enjoyed my time with it. The monster designs are ok - to me all thee types of games are trying to capture Pokemon's charm and never quite manage it - but the battle mechanics are fun and deep.
There are only 4 elements to keep track of, with skills that work off a mana system like the orb character in Slay The Spire, but there are lots of mechanics like Terror, Power, and Weakness that add a ton of versatility and build diversity. For my demo run I focused on a tank with heavy shields that aggro'd most of the damage, a healer that had constant passive regeneration, and an ooze monster that dealt out passive Poison damage. This was pretty effective and carried me through the end of the demo, but I can see how there are tons of builds you could focus on.
This one is definitely on my radar for a future release.
