Another fun entry. This third novel is in my opinion the weakest of the bunch so far, for a few reasons, but it's still a strong novel with tons of action and some nice character development.
My biggest problem with this book is the setting. The whole subway/train station setup just didn't work for me. I understand that it's meant to be confusing for the characters, but when you have a disclaimer at the very beginning of the novel telling readers "this is confusing and makes no sense, just ignore it until the very end of the novel", it might be a good idea to tighten up or simplify it a bit.
Beyond that big gripe, I still really enjoyed the book. I like how Dinnaman is finding ways to change things up a bit and keep them fresh, like the buff that decreases the amount of time they spend sleeping. Stuff like that lets more action take place while still feeling natural in the setting.
I like the small moments of character development when the story slows down a bit and lets the characters be human for a bit. These moments are few and far between, which is fine as I think too many of them would cheapen the experience.
I can't bring myself to care about the outside storyline with the corporations. I know it's building up to something important that Carl will likely have a role in, but the dungeon story is much more interesting to me and I'm glad it's still the focus.
All in all, this was my least favorite novel in the series so far, and is somewhere between a 3 and a 4 for me, mostly because of the confusing setting. About a third of the way through I gave up on trying to make sense of it entirely and just went along for the ride.
