Dungeon Crawler Carl review

January 30, 2025 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: reviews

Dungeon Crawler Carl is a really fun novel, and a really fun base for the rest of the series to build on. I don't read many LitRPG novels or progression fantasy, but the hype around this series sucked me in, and it mostly lived up to the hype. Most people recommend the audio version of this book, I opted for the ebook, It moves at a breakneck pace, and the premise is simple: Our world gets destroyed and all the survivors are transported to a massive dungeon, where they have to loot enemies and grow stronger in order to keep advancing. If you're familiar with RPGs, that's the concept. It's done well here, and is really well written. It's funny, which is really hard to do for me, though some of the pop-culture references are a little hit-or-miss. It's popcorn reading, light and fun, but it's also written skillfully.

This is the kind of novel you'll blow through in a weekend if it grabs you.
