Dragon Ball vol 14 review

January 7, 2025 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: reviews

Another excellent volume. This one consists of Goku's fight with Demon King Piccolo, a small training arc, and then a time jump and the beginnings of yet another tournament. The fight scenes are really well done, like always, and learning some more of Piccolo and Kami's backstory was fun. I liked that this training arc focused on reading your opponent and controlling your body rather than raw strength. Mr. Popo is also just a really fun character.

Knowing how important Piccolo Jr. is in the later series, it's cool to see his origin story here. What looks like just another villain turns out to be one of the main characters of the series.

I really like how Toriyama's not afraid to just jump ahead in the story and skip the boring stuff. In this volume 3 years pass by in one panel and Goku's just grown up now. I'm looking forwarding to finishing out OG Dragon Ball.
