Ys II is the natural evolution of Ys I. It retains the first game's bump combat, graphical style, and awesome soundtrack. If you liked that one, you'll like this one.
Ys II implements a magic ability, bigger levels, a bigger inventory. It's a bigger game than Ys 1, taking a few more hours to finish. The story is still lean, as in all 2D Ys games. Boss fights are still awesome. I do have to say I enjoyed the first game slightly more. There's a charm about 1's simplicity that 2 loses a bit with all the added content and features,
It's still a great game, and any Ys fan shouldn't ignore it because of the bump combat.
