Yakuza 3 (PS4)

March 18, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

Yakuza 3 is the continuation of Kiryu's story, and some fans may be disappointed with this one. It's a great game, but Yakuza 3 (and 4 and 5) are upscaled ports of PS3 games, not full-blown remakes like the Kiwami games.

That said, I still really enjoyed this one despite a bit of clunkiness. Okinawa is added as a playable area, and I liked the island setting. The story, at least in the beginning, feels a lot lower stakes. You're just taking care of kids in an orphanage and running around the island. It's really comfy, and then we get to go back to Kamurocho. There's still a ton of side content here, but players who are used to the newer remakes may take a few hours to get adjusted to this one.

Verdict: Finished
