WWE 2K24

October 5, 2024 - Reading time: 2 minutes - Category: game library project

Growing up, I was a huge fan of wrestling and had all the games. I spent hours and hours playing matches with my cousin, mixed in between Mario Kart and Smash Bros. I've haven't followed it for 15 years or so, but with the newest game being given out as a PS Plus freebie, I figured I'd give it a try.The game is obviously well-made. It looks great, there are tons of superstars to play with, and a lot of modes that clearly have a lot of care put into them. For me though, the game just isn't fun. I no longer really care about all the pomp and circumstance, the entrances, the crazy storylines and feuds. It's soap opera stuff for me, and I have enough good stories to follow without adding on more. And the thing with wrestling is that all that stuff, if not the primary draw, is at least a close second to the actual gameplay. I'm so disconnected from the current crop of wrestlers that all the storylines mean nothing to me.

And the gameplay just doesn't do it for me. It's fine, and if I'd had it back in 2008 I'd be in love. It just feels kind of slow and on-rails and if I'm going to play a fighting game it's going to be one of the DBZ games or something that is quick and bombastic. Just not for me.

Verdict: Uninstall

My biggest project is my Game Library Project. I have a ton of games collected throughout the years, and have barely played any of them. Check out the linked post to learn more about the project, and click here to be taken to the category page where you can see all my posts for the project.

Other content comes mainly in 3 forms:
Reviews, where I post longer-form writeups
