Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks Alpha Test

June 3, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks is a forthcoming car combat game in the vein of Twisted Metal. I don't have a ton of experience with the genre, and there's really not many games that fill that niche these days, so I was excited to give this game's free Alpha Test a try.

It's fun. Driving a car with a machine gun mounted on it and shooting rockets at other people is just an inherently enjoyable concept. It works well here. I've only played a few matches, and I'm not very good, but I managed to get a few kills and help my team capture the objectives. It's really simple and doesn't have much content right now, but the formula is there for a nice game. I'm not sure if this one is going to be permanently free with a live service model, but it would definitely benefit from a large userbase.

Controls feel good, but enemies are a little spongy. It's possible I'm just bad. I'll be keeping an eye on this one going forward.

My biggest project is my Game Library Project. I have a ton of games collected throughout the years, and have barely played any of them. Check out the linked post to learn more about the project, and click here to be taken to the category page where you can see all my posts for the project.

Other content comes mainly in 3 forms:
Reviews, where I post longer-form writeups
Thoughts, short & quick first impressions posts
Guides, detailed how-tos and walkthroughs
