The Shivah is Wadjet Eye's first commercial game, and is just as well-made and fun as all their others. It's a point and click, like all their games, and uses the same engine. Being so old, it's a little rough around the edges compared to something like Unavowed, but still has all the hallmarks of a Wadjet Eye game: great music, nice graphics, and a mature story.
This one was a little less relatable to me compared to something like the Blackwell series. The Shivah is a murder mystery where you play as a rabbi, and the games central theme revolves around being Jewish and the Jewish community, not something I'm a part of. Even so, it was a great murder mystery tale, and like always the music was fantastic. I really like the moody, somber tones Wadjet Eye uses in all their games. The voice acting was great too, featuring the great Abe Goldfarb in the protagonist role. Some of the side characters' audio quality is a bit hit or miss but I'm willing to chalk that up to it being such an old game.
A short, sweet, 90 minute to 2 hour experience.
Verdict: Finished
