The Order: 1886

March 12, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

The Order 1886 was one of the PS4's earliest first-party games released for the PS4, and it shows. The game is a third-person cover shooter set in Victorian England, and not much sticks out about it. It plays fine, and the story is interesting if not memorable. It's very linear, which is fine, and makes heavy use of quicktime events, which were still common in that era.

The game clearly had a high budget; production value is high across the board. The graphics still hold up almost a decade later. That said, there's not much about this game to set it apart from the legion of other third-person cover shooters.

Verdict: Finished
