The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails

December 8, 2024 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails is a Falcom game, similar to the older Ys games. It's tied, somewhat, to the Legend of Heroes series, but is standalone. While it doesn't have the budget of the newer Ys or Trails games, the DNA is there, and what I've played so far has been fun.Mechanically, it plays very much like Ys Origin and Ark of Napishtim. The stages are side-scrolling, and combat is pretty simple, with one button to attack and some room for combos with timing and jumping. The story, so far, seems pretty bog-standard, but the story has always just been set dressing in these Falcom action games made before Ys 8.

I think I'm going to keep playing this one. Reviews are positive, and I've liked pretty much every other game I've played in this style (besides Ys Seven, which I really just bounced off).

Verdict: Keep Playing
