The Coin Game

March 30, 2025 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

The Coin Game is one of those games I've had on my wishlist forever, but for one reason or another never decided to jump on. With it currently on sale I decided to finally bite the bullet, and it's exactly what I expected from seeing streams and videos.

I'm a little too young to have witnessed the golden era of arcades, but I've spent plenty of time at the Jersey Shore wasting money on claw machines and other dumb, rigged games, and The Coin Game lets me experience some of those feelings without dropping any real money. Despite being early access, the developer updates the game frequently and there are a few different arcades to play around in now and a full "survival" mode where you have to do little jobs to earn money to play and also have a curfew. I haven't played that mode yet and have only messed around in the free play mode. The games seem pretty accurately modeled. Not much to dislike here.

The Coin Game is one of those rare games that never gets uninstalled and you play for a few minutes here and there a few times a week.

Verdict: Timewaster
