Point and Click games have, in recent years, become a favorite genre of mine. Growing up I played mascot platformers and Nintendo games, gradually moving into sports games and shooters, and then later into strategy games and RPGs. As I became an adult I moved more into PC gaming, and then discovered point-and-clicks.
There's simply something comfortable about this genre. There's nothing better in gaming, for me, than setting wrapped up in a blanket on a cold winter day with a hot cup of something for a few hours and powering through an adventure. And Wadjet Eye's Blackwell series is one of the best of them. The Blackwell Legacy is the start of the series, and probably the roughest of them. Graphics are simple and the game runs in a low resolution. I simply don't care.
The story is grim, mature, and wholly original. The characters are voiced, and voiced well. Puzzles are tough, but never fall prey to the "moon logic" or pixel hunting seen so often in the genre. The soundtrack is fantastic, full of jazzy tunes that captures the moodiness of New York City perfectly.
If you're a fan of point and click games you can't do better than the Blackwell Series or any of Wadjet Eye's games.
Verdict: Finished
