I bought this game when it came out on the Switch, and I played the main game but never got around to playing the Bowser's Fury DLC. The main game is fun; much like Kirby's Forgotten Land it's a 3D platformer. I generally enjoy the 2D Mario games more than the 3D, but with Mario you know what you're getting and it's always a good experience. The Bowser's Fury DLC is standalone and mixes up the formula a bit, giving you a new open world to explore that is more like the worlds seen in Mario Odyssey, where you can freely run around and collect stars (called Cat Shines here) as you encounter them. It's a nice change from just selecting levels from a menu. Apparently there are 100 cat shines to collect, and only 50 are needed to defeat Bowser. I've collected 10 in a bit less than an hour of play, so I don't think the main experience is super lengthy.
I'm going to keep playing Bowser's Fury, the hype around Wonder and the RPG remake have me in the mode to play some Mario.
Verdict: Keep Playing
