Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition

March 12, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

Sleeping Dogs is a great game. It's United Front Games' answer to GTA 4, and arguably it's the better game. Set in Hong Kong, Sleeping Dogs features a richly detailed map with plenty to explore, and a story on par with anything Rockstar had put out at the time.

The interesting thing about Sleeping Dogs is that you essentially have two separate levels for your character: a gang level and a cop level. The game is split into two parts, one where you play as a gangster and the other where you play as a cop. Completing missions of each type rewards XP only for that specific skill tree.

I really, really enjoyed this game. The melee combat in particular is excellent, though the gunplay leaves something to be desired. The city is a joy to explore and is filled with things to do. I enjoyed this game - if we're talking single player only - more than GTA 4. Some of the DLC is worth playing too, but the main game is great on its own.

Verdict: Finished
