Ryse: Son of Rome

March 12, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

Ryse: Son of Rome is a perfectly average game. It's got average gameplay, an average story, and an average length. It's a run of the mill hack and slash game where you play as a Roman soldier seeking revenge for his murdered family. Combat is fun, but makes heavy use of QTEs than can get old quickly.

The real draw for this game are the graphics. I built my gaming PC back in 2016, and Ryse was the first game I played to test it out. This game still looks fantastic. Environments are lush and detailed and character models look great. There are plenty of better games in the genre, but this one is worth a playthrough if you can pick it up cheap and have a few hours to spare.

Verdict: Finished
