RollerCoaster Tycoon 1, 2, & OpenRCT2

January 26, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

RollerCoaster Tycoon was probably my most played game as a child. I actually hate roller coaster sin real life, but something about this game and series just drew me in. I loved designing parks, filling them with rides, creating crazy mazes of footpaths, and watching the handymen sweep up puke. The games are just as fun now as they were back in the early 2000s.

RCT is truly timeless, and with the open-source remake OpenRCT2, runs smooth as butter. An endless amount of community created scenarios, scenery, and rides keep the game fresh.

If you like theme parks, designing rollercoasters, management, or tycoon games, RCT is truly the best in the genre even a quarter century after its initial release.

Verdict: Endless

Reviews, where I post longer-form writeups
