Robocop: Rogue City

November 9, 2024 - Reading time: 2 minutes - Category: game library project

This game is sweet. I've never even seen Robocop, but that doesn't really matter for this game, though I'm sure it helps. This game is like a peak early 2010s FPS, with a no-nonsense campaign and not much else. The gameplay here is great. You move pretty slowly, which makes sense, but your weapons pack a huge punch. Shootings guys and having their head explode or seeing them be cut in half is crazy, and looks great. The game runs great, too. I get 200+ FPS on all Ultra settings.

This game's mostly linear, with a tiny "open world" you can walk around and pick up optional missions in. You can find collectibles inside of missions to get a better level score, which rewards you with XP to level up, which gives you skill points to upgrade various stats like damage and armor. It's a really light RPG system but adds a bit of flavor.

$50 or $60 seems like a bit much for what looks to be a 10 hour singleplayer game with limited replayability, but if you can find it at the $20 price point or in a bundle for even less (I got it for $12.50 in a 2-for-$25 Fanatical bundle) definitely pick it up. This one seems like it's destined to end up in more bundles or on PS Plus eventually.

Verdict: Keep Playing
