Pyre

March 16, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

Part visual novel, part weird soccer game, Pyre is definitely the weirdest of Supergiant's games. It's divisive, but I quite liked it.

Gameplay is pretty evenly split between story segments and gameplay segments. I won't spoil the story, but the gameplay was really interesting for me. It's a 3v3 soccer game where you choose a trio of characters that you pick up throughout the story. Each has their own stats and abilities, and scoring goals whittles opponents health down to 0. Winning the matches advances the story. It's not for everyone, but I liked it as a sort of arcade sports game.

Verdict: Finished

Part of the Game Library Project
