Pokemon Infinite Fusion has taken the Pokemon fanbase by storm recently. While I've fallen out with the series a bit, having not really enjoyed Sword and Shield and not bothering to pick up Scarlet and Violet, I do still love the series and keep an eye on it. I don't play many romhacks, but this one has such a cool concept that I had to check it out.
The main concept of this hack is fusing pokemon together. You can fuse any pokemon in the game (all of gen 1 and 2, and about 100 from other gens) with any other. Then you choose which you want to be the head and which the body, and stats, movepools, and types are combined accordingly. Individual halves evolve independently, and most combinations have a custom sprite too. It's really really well done, and a huge breath of fresh air for the series for me.
The story follows the basic Kanto and Johto storylines, with some extras thrown in, so it's not totally original there. But I've been having so much fun fusing Pokemon together I don't mind the retread. Difficulty doesn't seem too rough, and so far the story has avoided the edginess that infects a lot of other romhacks.
Unfortunately, my gaming PC refuses to boot up for an unknown region, so it's in the shop, and I'm playing on an old business laptop. The game chugs along at points, and it's a bit frustrating. I'm not sure if it's the laptop or just how the game is. I'll test again when I've got my PC back.
Verdict: Keep Playing
