Pokemon Emerald Seaglass

March 19, 2025 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

Pokemon Emerald Seaglass is a romhack of Pokemon Emerald, changing up the artstyle and adding a bunch of quality of life features. I don't normally play many romhacks, but it's been a long time since I've played generation 3, and I've got a bit of a quest going to play each generation (I played gens 1 and 4 a couple years ago) so I figured if I was going to play, I should play an upgraded version that stays mostly vanilla.

I really like it so far. There's just something about Pokemon that can't be beat. I appreciate that this hack stays mostly vanilla, and it doesn't add in a bunch of cringe dialogue or try to cram in every single Pokemon. It's just a nice vanilla+ experience. The art style is really cool too.

Emerald is one of the best Pokemon games, and this might be the best way to play. Perfect for handheld too (obviously) and the emulator's fast-forward makes grinding a breeze. I'm going to keep playing, and will probably play a bunch during my upcoming vacation.

Verdict: Keep Playing
