In the past year or so I've gotten really into Formula 1, mostly because of Netflix's documentary. I'm played the simcade racer on PS5, and it's great fun. An official F1 Manager was released last year, and I was initially interested, but after middling reviews and some disappointing updates I decided to hold off for a more refined version. Motorsport Manager is an excellent substitute.
While it doesn't have any official licensing, Motorsport Manager is an excellent open-wheel team management sim. You take control of a team (or with a cheap DLC, make your own team) and develop a car, sign drivers, and manage each race in the season.
The graphics are slick, accessible, and nice to look at. Everything is explained in an in-depth tutorial, and managing your drivers throughout the race is both simple and hectic. The team management side likewise feels good - car upgrades follow an east to understand path, and managing your pit crew is intuitive.
This game seems like what an F1 Manager game should have been. There are mods that add in the official license, but I haven't tried them yet. I'm content to play in the fictional series for now and build my team up. I can see racing fans spending a lot of time in this game, and it's an excellent compliment to the F1 racing games where you're actually behind the wheel.
Verdict: Keep Playing/Timewaster
