Marvel's Spider-Man is a great game. Swing through Manhattan as Spider Man, taking down enemies and playing through the 20-ish hour story. The game is well-crafted, but is ultimately another AAA open world game in a sea of them. What sets it apart are the movement mechanics.
Swinging in this game feels incredible. There's a weight to it, where you keep momentum and increase speed as you time swings perfectly and move through the city at breakneck pace. This is maybe the only game I've ever played where I didn't use the fast travel option. Combat is good, but if you've played the Arkham games you've played this. The story is well-told, but the few forced stealth sections were really annoying and should've been removed. The side content is mostly forgettable.
I feel like this was a good game, but is over-praised because of the IP and it being a Sony first party game. If Ubisoft had made this it wouldn't be nearly as well-loved. That said, the movement mechanics really elevate it and make this one of the better AAA open world games around.
Verdict: Finished
