Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

October 25, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

I'm definitely not a huge fan of the Marvel cinematic universe, though I did see the first 2 GOTG movies and enjoyed them more than some other Marvel stuff I've seen. I was able to pick this game up dirt cheap, and I've heard good things, so I decided to give it a try.I've played about an hour and I'm having a lot of fun. The game's obviously well made, it looks great, and there's a ton of little bits of lore sprinkled around. The characters quip a lot, which might get grating eventually, but it hasn't worn on me yet. The combat doesn't seem to have opened up too much yet, but what's there has been fun. I do wish you could directly control the other characters, but being able to assign commands is a good substitute. It seems to have trouble maintaining a solid framerate at times, which is disappointing on Performance mode on a PS5.

This game doesn't have much if anything to do with the larger Marvel universe, so you should be fine to play it if you haven't seen those. I think this game flew under a lot of pople's radars, and it seems like a really well done third person action game.

Verdict: Keep Playing
