Maplestory

July 22, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

Ah, Maplestory. I have really fond memories of playing this game with all my friends back in middle school. The endless grind, painfully slow level up process, and annoying cash shop didn't mean a thing to me back then.

The game has changed in the decade+ since I last seriously played it. There's a ton of new classes, a bunch more content, and a much bigger emphasis on the cash shop. Levelling up is much faster. Playing it these days it's hard to see why it was such a big thing back then, but you really had to be there. There was a really cool community and it really felt like you were discovering new things with the group as you played. Now it kind of just feels like any other Korean grindfest MMO. The music is still excellent though.

Verdict: Endless
