Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe is a remake of the 2011 Wii original, and includes some new content, namely an epilogue featuring Magolor as a playable character. I've never played the original, but decided to give this remake a try as I'm a somewhat recent Kirby convert and always enjoy the simple gameplay of the games, even if I always know exactly what I'm getting into.
Deluxe has 8 levels with a few stages each, plus the new Epilogue. I completed the first level, and each stage only takes a few minutes, so this isn't an especially long game. It's a little egregious of Nintendo to charge full price for this, even considering the new content, but Nintendo fans are used to this. The game plays really well, and looks and sounds great. Any fan of Kirby will have a lot to love here, but this might be a hard sell for those who still have access to the original. The Switch has really become a platform for ports of old games, and for the most part I'm on board with that, as I've missed out on a lot of Nintendo games from the Wii and Wii U. But for people who played these games on original hardware, paying $60 for a game that originally cost $40 or $50? Definitely some second thoughts.
For me, though, I like Kirby and I've never played this one before, so an easy decision for me. Often I like to relax when I'm gaming and Kirby is perfect for that, so I'm going to keep playing.
Verdict: Keep Playing
