God of War III: Remastered

March 12, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

God of War 3 Remastered is the last of the traditional God of War games before the 2018 reboot, and it's a great send-off. GoW 3 retains the series frantic hack-and-slash gameplay and supplements it with epic boss battles. I'll never forget the opening of this game, travelling across Gaia in the prologue as she climbs mount Olympus, destroying Poseidon before being cast down by Zeus.

It's a hell of a ride, and simply more epic than the newer games. This game is the peak of the series for me. God of War has always been about the epic boss fights and stories, and while I enjoyed GOW 2018 for what it was, to me it felt too much like the rest of Sony's first party games: over-the-shoulder, slow, cinematic. A good game, but not what God of War is about.

This game is a must-play for any hack and slash/character action game fan, and a great conclusion to the Greek part of Kratos's story.

Verdict: Finished
