Emily is Away Too is another Visual novel/interactive fiction, but I really enjoyed this one. I think anyone who grew up in the early-mid 2000s will really enjoy this game. You play as a teen just living life. The game takes place in a fictionalized AOL messenger, and you read through conversations with your friends about normal teenage things.
It sounds mundane, and it is. But I really enjoyed this game. I spent a lot of time on the computer as a kid, and was always on AOL and MSN Messenger talking to real and internet friends. The problems the character deals with were very similar to things I dealt with growing up, and I have a ton of nostalgia for this era of the Internet and my life. The XP aesthetic and web design trends of this era were just so awesome, and the minimalist nature of the internet nowadays just doesn't compare.
If you're approaching your 30s now, and grew up on the internet, you might find a lot to like in this one.
Verdict: Finished
