Dragon Quest is a series that appeals to me in a lot of ways. I like the true turn-based combat, the monsters, and the familiar stories. Sometimes you just want something slow and traditional. With the passing of Akira Toriyama, I've decided to jump into DQ8, one of the most well-loved games in the series, since I've already beaten (and loved) 11.
I'm playing the 3DS version of the game, using an Orchestral music mod and upscaling the textures. It doesn't look quite as nice as the PS2 version, but after reading up on some of the quality of life features in the 3DS version, I've decided to play this one. I started out playing on the Retroid Pocket, but decided to just play on PC instead for the larger screen. I've a feeling that the Retroid is better at handling games with just a single screen. The screen is a little too small to comfortable emulate DS and 3DS games.
I can tell this one is going to be a slow burn that's going to take a while, but that's okay.
Verdict: Keep Playing
