I really like ARPGs. Back in the day I played a bunch of Torchlight, and more recently I played Diablo 3 and Grim Dawn. Diablo remains the gold standard in terms of polish, and with Diablo 4 on sale I decided to give it a go.Just like in Diablo 3, I'm playing as a Necromancer because I really like raising up skeleton bros to fight for me. I' an hour or so in and really enjoying it. It looks and plays great, and feels tailor-made for a controller, which is something I can't say for Grim Dawn, despite really liking that game too.
Diablo 4 might not be as mechanically complex as Grim Dawn, but it feels great to play, and there's enough different classes and skills to mess with that it shouldn't get stale. I've never been one to grind these games and get heavy into endgame content, but I'll be good for at least a run through the campaign and the DLC. I know a lot of people say that in this genre the real game starts when you beat the game, but it is what it is. I've got too many games to play for all that.
Verdict: Keep Playing
