With excellent shooting mechanics and deep lore, Destiny 2 is really the only option for a story focused, massively multiplayer shooting game. I enjoyed my time with it, but when I played it, the new player experience was awful, and Bungie's habit of vaulting paid content is disappointing.When I started playing Destiny, I wanted to go through the campaigns to get a sense of the story. At that time, I had to google how to even find them. Nowadays, they've actually removed them entirely. If you don't care about the story and just want to shoot stuff, Destiny 2 is awesome. If you want to get invested in the lore, you better get watching some Youtube videos because the game isn't going to help you out.
