Originally released in 1993, Day of the Tentacle is a classic of the point and click genre. I've never played the original, and got this one as a free monthly PS Plus game. This version has updated graphics, and looks great. You can also swap to the original graphics at any point.
One of the standout features of this game is the humor. Comedy in games can fall a bit flat for me, but this game does a pretty good job with it. The premise of the game is silly, with the 3 playable characters time traveling to stop a purple tentacle monster from taking over the world. Puzzles are mostly intuitive, however at certain points later in the game they can get a bit out there and with 3 characters with separate inventories to juggle, they can get a bit tough.
All in all, definitely a solid point and click to add to your collection. It goes on sale for dirt cheap pretty often, and even at $15 MSRP it isn't a terrible deal. If you're familiar with Tim Schafer, who did Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, and a bunch of other stuff with Double Fine, you'll probably like this. He was a co-leader on the project.
Verdict: Finished
