Cities: Skylines

December 3, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

Cities: Skylines is probably the best of the modern city building games. I played and enjoyed this game when it first came out, and had a good time planning out and watching my city grow. While the simulation and management aspects aren't incredibly deep, it's good fun (if a little easy) to build and manage a big city. After the disastrous launch of Skylines 2, I think a lot of people are going to be coming back to this one. It's got the same unfortunate DLC policy as all Paradox games, but as the game is so old now they go on sale for cheap really often, and there are a ton of mods adding new content, objects, and quality of life features.

If you're looking for a city builder that requires less management than SimCity, or you just want to paint the map with you dream city, and you don't want to shell out for (or can't run) the second game, Cities: Skylines is probably the best option.

Verdict: Endless
