Chained Echoes

December 30, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

Chained Echoes is a turn-based RPG that made some waves last year and it's been on my radar ever since. I really like turn based combat, and this one has a pretty cool "overdrive" mechanic that rewards strategy while not being overly complicated. The graphics are styled after the 16-bit classics, and look great. I've played about an hour, and the combat mechanics are really grabbing me, and while the story seems a little generic and the dialogue between characters is a bit overwritten, it's certainly not offensively bad or anything.

I'm not sure the wisdom of starting another long RPG while I'm still working on Dave the Diver and Like A Dragon Ishin (which has been put on the backburner a bit), but I want to keep playing this one.

Verdict: Keep Playing
