Astlibra: Revision

January 14, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

I posted about Astlibra a while back after having played the demo and really enjoying it, and I decided to pick it up during the Steam Winter sale. I've finally gotten around to playing for a few hours and I'm really glad I decided to buy.

Astlibra plays most similar to the 2D Ys games, sidescroller action, a little button-mashy, with slight metroidvania aspects that encourage some exploration. The art and music are nice, the writing seems ok so far, but where this game shines is in the combat. It's got a unique magic system and a really fun combo system that makes every fight a treat. I'm looking forward to getting deeper into this one.

Verdict: Keep Playing
