AdventureQuest 3D is a World of Warcraft-style MMO set in the same world as classic Artix web games like AdventureQuest and DragonFable. I've recently gotten back into the singleplayer Artix games, so I figured I'd give the MMO a try. This game is the definition of 'okay'. It doesn't have the charm of the singleplayer games or the 2D MMO, AdventureQuest Worlds, being made in Unity and using pretty generic 3D art. It's fun enough, if you enjoy tab-targetting MMOs (I do) and enjoy Artix's worlds and style of humor (I do). There's a lot of content here, and the game is free with an option one-time purchase to unlock more content and the usual premium currency for cosmetics. Like all Artix games, it seems like a fair price. I don't think it quite matches the value you get for your $20 in the original AQ or DF, but it's hard to complain about the pricing model when there's an absolute ton of free content.
If you're looking for a light MMO, this one might hit the spot for you. If you're just nostalgic for Artix Entertainment games, you're better off going back and playing the original AdventureQuest, DragonFable, or AdventureQuest Worlds. These games are all still updated weekly as well, and they are just as fun as they used to be. This game's gameplay doesn't quite scratch the itch those ones did.
Verdict: Endless/Timewaster
